When your personal computer crashes what do you do? Call a PC repair technician? Take the computer back to the manufacturer? Take the computer to a retail store? These are all possible solutions, but definitely not the most cost effective. Professional computer repair can end up costing you hundreds of dollars. Paying $25-$30 per hour for technician work adds up very quick. Especially when most computer problems you will face are software related. In today's internet age it's extremely easy to get infected with a virus or tons of spy ware and ad ware which slow your computer down or even crash the entire system.
The easiest way to fix these problems is prevention. Make sure you have a virus program installed on your computer that is constantly monitoring the system. Get some type of spy ware or ad ware prevention software. A final measure of prevention is to run additional firewalls on your computer to block access to outside computers and hackers.
Many times the easiest way to repair these software problems is to remove everything from your computer and start over. This is why it is very important to keep well maintained backups of your system at all times. We'll show you how to do this in a later tutorial. Aside from software problems you may encounter hardware failures. Most problems will occur with memory, hard drive, CPU, or the motherboard.
