SELLING CUSTOM BUILD COMPUTERS

Can you still start a business selling custom built computers and computer parts?

custom built computer part store and custom computer parts

Is there money in buying computers and custom computer parts through online computer part stores and then reselling them locally or online to make a profit? Sure, but just like any other business it will take some effort to find some customers and suppliers of wholesale computer parts.

A few years ago the custom built computer sales were extremely good! I had many friends who would order parts online very cheap, put them together to create a computer and then resell the computer to people locally, making a good profit. Many people were willing to pay good money to have someone build a custom computer and set up everything in their own home.

Today the market is much more competitive and it's hard to compete with the big names in computers. There is little or no markup in computer systems at retail stores and there are many people who sale custom built computers.  There is still money to be made, but finding the clients will be extremely difficult.

You will also need to find some online computer parts wholesalers or computer parts suppliers. There are many online computer part stores willing to sell discount computer parts to anyone with a credit card. Some of these companies are reputable others I'm not sure about. Always keep some computer parts on hand as inventory, but never overstock on items. Computer and elctronic equipment quickly become outdated technology.

Top computer manufactures such as Dell, HP, Compaq, and IBM corner the market for computer sales. They can offer great deals on quality systems that are hard to beat. You can even order custom built computers from theses companies online making an online computer part store even harder to be successful.

If you are still wanting to try the custom built computer system business then I would suggest focusing on service. Many of these top manufacturers offer additional service contracts, but also have a high price tag. Service on computers with theses manufactures are sometimes less than perfect and most service is preformed over the phone.

Offering a customer personal in home service for custom computer repairs will be a good selling point. This will require a little extra effort from you but will be rewarding in the long run.
