What to Look for When Buying a Computer System

Do I need a new computer? What type of computer should I buy? These are common questions I get all the time in my life. Everybody wants to get the best computer for the best price. They don't want a new computer that is going to be trash in a couple of years.

I want to help inform you of all the different options you have when buying a new computer.Buying your new computer, peripherals and accessories should be an easy task, don't let it stress you out.

First, ask yourself why you want a new computer. Are you wanting to play complex, high-end graphic games? Do you just want to do word processing, spreadsheets and internet? Do you want to have the most extensive music library and have your computer play the best quality sound avaliable? Do you want to be able to back up music, pictures, videos and files to CD's or DVD's? Knowing why you want a new computer will help you choose the best options.

Preparing to buy a new computer

As mentioned earlier you need to decide what you want in your new computer. After you've decided it's time to buy a new computer you need to start shopping around for the best prices. As with most items great discounts can be found from online retailers.

Make a list of items you want in your computer as well as their speed and functionality. Most common items include

  • Motherboard
  • Memory/RAM
  • Video Card
  • Sound Card
  • CD Rom, DVD Rom, CD/RW, DVD/RW, etc.

Next, make sure you keep an organized list of the specific items and their stats. You will have to compare each list to make sure you are getting the best price for the overall system.
